Some of the recommended foods as a part of a glycemic diet are complex carbohydrates like whole grain breads, wheat-based products and milk-based products. You can also eat several vegetables except sweet potatoes and potatoes. These vegetables are high on carbohydrates. However, a little bit of such vegetables mixed with other types like carrots and beets are beneficial.

When you are on a glycemic diet, you can eat foods like broccoli, mushrooms, onions, red peppers, carrots, pasta, yogurt, milk, ice cream, hummus, and cashews. You can consume corn, beets, pumpkin, parsnips, oatmeal cookies, fudge cookies, shortbread cookies, pizza and macaroni and cheese. However, these foods should be consumed in moderation.
