A vegetarian diet has several benefits other than just weight loss. People who completely migrate to a vegetarian diet will obviously lose weight as a part of the deal.
It can take time to do that, but one should also be more careful about what they eat once they switch over to a vegetarian diet.Vegetables also contain minerals, vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates essential for the body. They remove the toxins from the body, they are digested easily and most of the vegetables contain no fat. Along with vegetables, you can also eat fruits. When you plan on getting onto a vegetable diet, you should have at least three to five servings of vegetables a day. Along with that, you should also have two servings of fruit.
Eating frequent and smaller meals promotes weight loss compared to eating three big meals. You can alternate between breakfast and short fruit snack, lunch and snack and again fruit snack and dinner. This will help you stay content with your diet. Avoid fruit juices which have a lot of sugars though.
Some of the vegetables you can have everyday are salads with sprouts and broccoli, eggplants, okra, turnips, carrots, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and artichokes. There are interesting dishes in various cuisines that you can make for a vegetarian meal. You can just stir fry beans with little butter and pepper to add some taste and have it along with breads and spaghetti. Cook the beans in a microwave before stir frying so that you use minimum butter. You can also steam the vegetables, bake them or boil them. You can use the water that you boil the vegetables in to make a light vegetable broth.
There are many creative methods to cook delicious vegetable dishes. All you need to do is look around. This way you will be more inclined to stick to your vegetable diet for weight loss.
