Excessive Burping And Natural Medicine

The main causes of excessive burping or belching are twofold. Aerophagia is a condition created by swallowing air and the result is the sufferer belches all day. In another situation a person may suffer from lack of digestive acid or digestive enzymes.

Food is likely to remain undigested in the stomach and small intestine producing gases that result in bloating and uncomfortable belching. Over-the-counter antacids bring temporary relief in both conditions.

There are a few effective home and natural remedies to aid in digestion and reduce the need to belch.

Ginger brings almost instant relief. Ginger is renowned to stimulate digestion and is said to prevent belching completely. One or two capsules or 30 drops of tincture before each meal should resolve the problem. An alternative is to finish every meal with a cup of ginger tea. This can be made by steeping a teaspoon of grated gingerroot in boiling water for five minutes and drinking the decoction. Or swallow a teaspoon of ginger pulp with a teaspoon of limejuice after every meal.

Mix a teaspoon of lemon juice with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and drink it quickly immediately after a meal.

Papaya is reputed to prevent burping through an enzyme called papain which it contains.

Dried Peppermint steeped in boiling water for five minutes and then drunk is a preventive.

Roast equal quantities of cumin, fennel and celery seed. Chew a teaspoon of the mixture well and drink it with warm water.  It is said to be a preventive and bring relief.
